In September 2009 CLF commissioned the consultancy firm Shared Intelligence to carry out a programme of information gathering on central London employment programmes and lobbying the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and Jobcentre Plus.

The programme was funded by Capital Ambition and had the three following key objectives:

1. To improve our understanding of current and planned employment services by mapping provision (both local authority and DWP commissioned programmes) and identifying areas of duplication and omission.

2. To improve data sharing between the CLF boroughs and DWP/JCP by negotiating a formal agreement between both parties to share a pre-arranged set of data on a regular basis.

3. To assist the CLF and DWP to come to an arrangement which would allow the CLF boroughs to influence the design and commissioning of future Government employability programmes.

The consultants' final report can be downloaded here.

Following recommendations made by Shared Intelligence, the CLF Board have committed to developing and implementinig a sub-regional framework which will investigate ways in which the boroughs and Jobcentre Plus can work together in a more coordinated and mutually beneficial way.  We will keep you updated with further developments.
