Central London Forward is a strategic advocacy and lobbying organisation representing the seven Central London boroughs.  Our activities include:

  • Engaging with and lobbying policy makers, including the Government and the Mayor of London, to promote the case for Central London
  • Collating information and commissioning research on Central London issues
  • Developing, co-ordinating  and funding sub-regional programmes
  • Facilitating joint-working between the boroughs on specific issues of mutual interest to partners

Central London makes a vital contribution to the wider London and national economies.  We therefore believe it is equally as vital to do whatever we can to help Central London prosper and develop as dynamically and sustainably as it can.

Central London Forward works towards this vision by working with partners, like the GLA family and Cross River Partnership, to promote Central London’s interests and attract inward investment.  Our work ranges from maintaining and improving Central London’s infrastructure to supporting the local labour market to helping the boroughs prepare for the Olympic Games.

The Central Activities Zone

The Central London Forward member boroughs are drawn together in this sub-regional arrangement partly due to common interests which they share through the Central Activities Zone.

The CAZ is a concentrated area of central London which contains a unique agglomeration of important activities including:

• Central Government offices, headquarters and embassies
• Financial and business services
• The offices of trading, communications, publishing, advertising and media companies
• Key retail, tourism, culture and entertainment areas

Parts of all the CLF member boroughs are located within the CAZ while the City of the London is located entirely within the zone.  In addition, non-member boroughs: Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Wandsworth also have areas which are located with the CAZ.

You can read more about the CAZ in the Mayor’s London Plan.
