In March 2010 CLF launched a publicity campaign to raise awareness on central London issues with politicians, policy makers and key influencers.  The campaign was timed to coincide with the start of the general election period and will run through the summer, inviting the new government to work with the Central London boroughs to make effective, innovative policy decisions to help protect and enhance the truly unique environment that is central London

The Case for Central London

The campaign commenced on 25 March with a high-profile launch of a pamphlet setting out the economic case of central London.  The pamphlet issues five key challenges for a new government:

  1. People: help us defeat worklessness
  2. Housing: free us to innovate, maintain existing stock and build new affordable housing
  3. Transport: invest in infrastructure and help us to make transport greener
  4. Place: improve public spaces and central London's liveability
  5. Funding: ensure an accurate Census and fair funding for central London

Next Steps

Further campaign waves, which will reinforce our messages on housing, worklessness and funding, will continue throughout the summer.  We will keep you posted with further developments.
